Organizing homes in Lakewood

If you live in Lakewood, your problem is almost certainly capacity rather than tidiness. These houses were built when a family owned a fraction of what one owns now, and the closets show it. You do not need a lecture about editing; most of our Lakewood clients have already edited harder than anyone in a newer suburb ever will. The work here is finding capacity the original architect never provided, which usually means going up, going seasonal, or accepting one well-chosen piece of furniture.

Some of the oldest housing stock we work in. Tudors and Spanish Colonials from the 1920s and 1930s, architecturally beautiful and almost entirely without storage by modern standards. One shallow closet per bedroom is normal, and there is often no linen closet at all.

The projects Lakewood books

A mismatch between the house you love and the amount of things a modern family owns. Lakewood clients are rarely disorganized. They are storage-constrained.

  • Making one small closet work

Double-hanging where the ceiling allows, shelf risers, and moving off-season clothing out of the bedroom entirely. We treat the closet as a working-week wardrobe rather than as annual storage.

  • Attic and garage systems

With no spare interior space, your attic and garage carry the seasonal load. We get things off the floor, into labeled and heat-appropriate containment, and onto a rotation you can actually follow.

  • Linen storage that does not exist

Many of these homes have no linen closet at all. We build the function into furniture, hall storage or a re-zoned bathroom cabinet instead of pretending the space is there.

Why Lakewood homeowners choose Messy Buns

We treat this as a capacity problem, not a tidiness problem, so we do not arrive and suggest you try harder. The gains come from vertical space, rotating off-season clothing out of the room and honest editing, and we will tell you when more product would not help.

  • The rate is published

$160 an hour, on the pricing page rather than behind a quote form. You get a written hour range after the walkthrough, before anything is booked.

  • Nothing is bought until the sorting is done

We do not sell product packages. Containment is specified against what is actually staying and billed at cost, which is why we ask you not to buy bins first.

  • Donations leave with us the same day

Loaded into our vehicles before we go, with a receipt back to you. Bags waiting in a garage for a trip that never happens is how a room refills.

When it is a good time to call us in Lakewood

When you love the house and the closets are simply too small for what a modern family owns.

  • You're moving, or you've just moved in and boxes are taking over
  • Life has changed: a new baby, downsizing, combining households or a growing family
  • Clutter is costing you time, money or peace of mind
  • You've tried DIY organizing before and it just didn't stick
  • You want your home to finally match the life you're actually living

Older houses mean tight driveways and narrow stairs. Tell us about attic access when you call, because a pull-down ladder limits what we can safely move and how long it takes.

Ashley was such a blessing to my family and me! She took ownership of our move and made it so smooth and stress free. She was a tremendous asset to the moving company we hired. I highly recommend Ashley for any type of move and organization of your home. Will definitely be contacting her again and again

When I contacted Ashley I wasn't sure she would be able to help me. Tiny overstuffed kitchen that was totally not functional!! She came in and added things I would never have dreamed of! Everything is much more available and I can cook again!!!! I can't recommend her enough!!! I'd give 10 stars!!!!

The messy buns girls are amazing! They tackled our horribly messy garage and got it into amazing shape in one day! I was so excited I asked them back to organize our master bath and it's absolutely perfect! I can't wait to have Ashley come back and do my kitchen, pantry and laundry room! She really is AMAZING!

After moving to Dallas from Houston, Messy Buns came in and unpacked my 4,200 square foot home in 5 days. I was able to move my family into a completely unpacked home with no stress or worry. They completely exceeded my expectations and I look forward to having them back for any future projects!

Ashley was super sweet and did an amazing job with our closet, better than we could have imagined, she unpacked and organized everything and gave us tips to enhance what she already did. She was also really quick I would definitely recommend her for anyone who needs organization done in their home.

Ashley was incredible in organizing my kitchen and laundry room. I've already hired her for more organizing.

Terrific and thorough. Very sharp worker. I understand It's a new business, and a little pricey for me...but worth what I spent. That's for sure. I got two bedrooms packed and sorted for storage. Great job! It helped that I had a list of what to keep, toss and pack. I sat back and watched.

Thank you Messy Buns for organizing my holiday storage shed. I couldn't walk through the shed nor could I tell what was in the boxes. But now, all my holiday decorations are in clear toes, stacked, and labeled with easy access. Awesome job! I wish I had before and after pictures, you would be amazed.

Nita H. Google review

I'd give 10 stars! Ashley was amazing. She took my messy, disorganized pantry and turned it into this pristine, clean organized pantry.

Took me a while to write this, but I appreciate Ashley for coming out and helping me get my kitchen together when it was overwhelming. She helped us categorize items in a functional system that got the kitchen working again.

Organizing in Lakewood: common questions

Our 1920s house has almost no closet space. Is it even worth it?

This is the most common Lakewood project and the results are usually the most dramatic, precisely because the constraint is real. The gains come from vertical space, seasonal rotation and honest editing rather than from more product.

Can you store things in the attic in Texas?

Some things, with care. Anything heat-sensitive comes out entirely. What stays goes into sealed, labeled containment that will not warp or degrade through August, on a rotation you can actually keep up with.

Do you charge extra to travel to Lakewood?

A travel fee can apply depending on where you are relative to our Dallas base, and Lakewood is inside our service area. It is quoted in writing with your estimate, so you have the number before anything is booked rather than finding it on the invoice. For the markets furthest out we book full-day blocks rather than short sessions.

How quickly can you start in Lakewood?

Single spaces usually book a couple of weeks out. Moves want four to six weeks, and longer through the summer, which is peak season here. If you have a closing date, call with it even if nothing is packed: the plan is worth more than the lead time.

How much does home organizing cost in Lakewood?

It starts at $160 per hour and the rate is published rather than quoted. Most single rooms run six to twelve hours. You get a written hour range after the walkthrough, before anything is booked, and organizing products are billed separately at cost.

Do you work elsewhere in Dallas County?

Yes. Lakewood is one of the areas we name because we work there often enough to say something specific about it, not because our range stops at the city limit. If your street is nearby and not listed, it almost certainly still falls inside our range.

Do I need to tidy up before you arrive?

Please do not. Seeing how the space actually works on an ordinary day is the only way to build a system that holds, and a tidied room hides the problem we were called about.

What happens to the things I let go of?

They leave with us the same day. Donations go to local organizations with a receipt back to you, and anything worth selling is set aside separately so you can decide. Bags left in a garage are how a room refills.
